Beaufort County received between 5-6 inches of snow Wednesday night into Thursday, with some areas in the northern part of the county receiving more, according to estimates.

7 p.m. update:

Roads: Beaufort County roadways, including U.S. and N.C. routes and secondary roads are covered with snow and ice, according to the NCDOT.There are no official road closures in the county, but motorists are encouraged to stay off roadways. Wednesday night, there were several accidents on the U.S. Highway 17 Bypass bridge around Washington due to weather. For updated NCDOT travel information, click HERE.

Friday closures: Beaufort County Schools (students and staff), Washington Montessori Charter School (students and staff ), Beaufort County Community College, Pungo Christian Academy, Beaufort County Developmental Center, Beaufort Area Transit System, Beaufort County Government offices, Beaufort County Court, Beaufort County Courthouse.
