Edith Miller White

Edith Miller White, 99, of Reidsville and formerly of Washington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, surrounded by her family.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Grace Fellowship at South Park in Reidsville and the family will see friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday at the church. A funeral service for Mrs. White will be held in Washington at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Washington, and the family will see friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. White was a native of Washington, and a daughter of the late Ned Lockwood and Beulah Bagley Miller. She lived in Washington most of her life before moving to Reidsville nine years ago. She formerly worked for Giant Discount in Washington, where she enjoyed interacting with the public. She was the oldest living charter member of the First Baptist Church of Washington, where she sang in the Grace Choir, and she loved her Sunday school class. Her church was a focal point of her family all of her life. She attended Grace Fellowship at South Park after moving to Reidsville. Mrs. White loved the Lord with all of her heart and served him daily. She was a dedicated Mother, Granny and Aunt Eddy. Mrs. White loved to write poetry and had several poems published, she enjoyed music and playing the piano, and enjoyed reading, especially the Bible. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Randolph White; grandson, Randy White; great-grandson, Elliott Singleton; and sister, Ann Singleton.

Surviving is her son, Tommy White (Charlotte) of Gibsonville; daughter, Lorraine White Kendrick (Harold) of Reidsville; grandchildren, Lisa Singleton (John), Denise K. Brooks (Jay), Catherine K. Roberts (David), and Brad E. Kendrick (Cady); great-grandchildren, Andrew Underwood (Chantel), Amanda Beth Singleton, Adam Underwood (Esther), Adam Burris, Ethan Burris, and Noah Kendrick; loving nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jewell Henderson.

The family will be at the home of her daughter; Lorraine White Kendrick, 1912 South Park Drive, Reidsville, NC 27320. Citty Funeral Home of Reidsville is assisting the White family.
