Clifford “Cliff” Lennox Caldwell, Sr.

Clifford “Cliff” Lennox Caldwell, Sr., 73, returned to his heavenly home on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, after a valiant battle with illness. His firm belief in God and his devotion to his family supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Clifford was born on May 8, 1944 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, to the late Willie Franklin Caldwell and the late Nora Bell Roddey Caldwell. Clifford was educated in the Rock Hill public school system. Clifford earned his certification as a general welder and went on to start his own business Clifford General Welding and Cliff Trucking Incorporated.
Clifford was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend of 46 years, Patricia (Ann) Peele, on Aug. 26, 1972, in Newark, New Jersey. Cliff and Ann relocated to Pinetown, and there together they raised their seven children in the fear of the Lord. Clifford was a devoted member of New Hope Holiness Church where he served as a deacon for over three decades.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann; five daughters, Doris Pembrick, Chandra Midgette (Timothy), Stephanie Abdullah (James), Amanda Caldwell, Brittany Woolard; and two sons, Robert Peele and Clifford Caldwell, Jr; 10 adored grandchildren, Chantei’, David Jr, Seantwenese, Lasone, Ciera, Jamal, T’Nia, Tobias, Conner, and Jameson and five grandchildren Amante’, Dere’on, Armani, Iman and Madison.
Clifford is also survived by nine siblings: Parthenia Jones (Lacey) of Hillside, NJ; Claretta King of Irvington, NJ; Willie C. Caldwell (Bernice) of Rock Hill, SC; Roddey Caldwell (Alice Mae) of Rock Hill, SC; Maynard Caldwell (Mattie) of Rock Hill, SC; Barron Caldwell of Chandler, AZ; Dennis Caldwell of Rock Hill, SC; Valerie Brownlee (Milton); Marilyn Drake. His beloved brothers, Max Caldwell and Herman Caldwell, and beloved sister, Barbara Page, preceded Clifford in death. A celebration of his life will be held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Deeper Life Ministries, Washington. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at Hillside Funeral Service. Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Highway 264 East, has been given the honor of being entrusted with serving the Caldwell family.
