Johanna “Anne” V. Van Staalduinen

Ms. Johanna “Anne” Vander Vliet Van Staalduinen, age 93, a resident of Free Union Church Road, Pinetown, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018. Anne was born June 18, 1924 to the late Alida Ruys Vander Vliet and John Vander Vliet in the Netherlands. She was married to the late Henry Van Staalduinen for 65 years. She was a member of Covenant United Reform Church in Pantego. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Thomas Van Staalduinen, her daughter, Alida Van Staalduinen, her granddaughter, Rebekah Van Staalduinen, and two sisters, Jane Van Staalduinen and Alida Voskamp. Survivors include one son, Steve Van Staalduinen of Chocowinity; two daughters, Joann Lilley and Elizabeth Wallace, both of Pinetown; two brothers-in-law, Hugh Van Staalduinen, Sr., of Newark, New York, and Leonard Voskamp of Trenton. Ontario, Canada; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Anne’s life will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, with Aldon Kuiper officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: John P. Van Staalduinen, Kenneth Van Staalduinen, Casey Van Staalduinen, Carl Van Staalduinen, Mark Van Staalduinen and Steve Van Staalduinen, Jr. The following will serve as honorary pallbearers: Wanda Hershey, Carolyn Simmons, Wilma Beiler, Dick Van Dorp, Mary Hubers and Louie Hubers. The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Covenant United Reform Church (Mission fund), PO Box 9, Pantego, NC or the Pinetown EMS, 7262 North Boyd Road, Pinetown, NC 27865 and Terra Ceia Christian School, 4428 Christian School Road, Pantego, NC.
