The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a man said to be responsible for a shooting Thursday night at Mimosa Mobile Home Park in Washington.

Deputies were called out to the mobile home park a little after 10 p.m. Thursday, after they received a report of a person shot on Jack Street, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. The victim, a 34-year-old male, had been multiple times, including in both legs, said Lt. Jim Vanlandingham, head of criminal investigations for the sheriff’s office.

Witnesses told investigators that multiple people were hanging out in the Jack Street home when an argument started between the victim and Marquel Levette Warren, 29. Warren pulled a gun, shot the victim, and as the two continued to struggle, shot the victim again before fleeing the scene, the release stated.

“There’s no clear indication as to what they were arguing about,” Vanlandingham said.

Warren has been charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon. Warren was already wanted for another count of assault by pointing a gun and failure to appear in court on a breaking and entering charge, the release stated.

Investigators believe that Warren hasn’t gone far.

“I suspect he’s still around. He’s not far away. There’s no indication that he’s left the area,” Vanlandingham said.

Vanlandingham said he ran across Warren during his first stint in criminal investigations in 2005, when Warren was charged with robbery with dangerous weapon. Then, Warren was living on Magnolia School Road. His current address is unknown, but he’s known to frequent Mimosa Mobile Home Park, according to Vanlandingham. Warren is still at large and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the press release.

The victim was taken to Vidant Beaufort Hospital. Despite multiple gunshot wounds, he was alert enough Thursday night to be interviewed by investigators, Vanlandingham said. He was later transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville and was expected to undergo surgery, the release stated.
