Tyrrell Sheriff Darryl Liverman sent out the following email statement on January 8:

“I would like to thank the citizens of Tyrrell County for not getting out on the highways during the recent winter storm. There was only one reported vehicle accident in Tyrrell County during and after the storm. Thank you again for not going out during the storm.”

The county was blanketed with 3-4 inches of snow before sunrise on January 4, and the thermometer stayed below freezing until midday January 8.
