Washington boys finish 11th in state

CARY — Washington finished 11th in the state at Friday’s 1-A/2-A state-championship meet in Cary. Raleigh Charter (203.5 points) edged Croatan (201) for first place, ending the Pam Pack’s two-year streak of winning the boys’ title.
Individually, Taylor Myers was less than 0.2 seconds from bringing home a medal in the 100-yard breaststroke. He finished fourth. Patrick Lovenberg earned seventh place.
The team of Myers, Lovenberg, Tristan Pake and Harrison Schmidt placed seventh in the opening event: the 200-yard medley relay. Schmidt, Pake, Lovenberg, and Hodges Tubaugh also took seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Claire Shepherd, the lone Lady Pack representative, placed 18th in the 50-yard freestyle. Darah Cole traveled with the team to represent Southside in the 100-yard freestyle.
