Tyrrell County Schools will observe Mid-Year Renewal Day on February 16. The day will start at 8 a.m. with breakfast catered by Nixon’s Catering.

Michael Bonner, second grade teacher at South Greenville Elementary School in Pitt County, will be the guest speaker.

“You may remember him from his appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and for his positive and innovative educational approaches for children coping with challenges of poverty,” Dr. Will Hoffman, superintendent, explained.

It is also planned to have blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol checks available for staff.

After the breakfast event, and through the afternoon, teachers and staff will have the opportunity to work in schools and in classrooms.

“We are looking forward to having an eventful, stress-free day of renewal,” the superintendent said.
