CHOCOWINITY — Southside High School Principal M.D. Coleman has been suspended from his post with pay, according to Beaufort County Schools Assistant Superintendent Mark Doane.
For the remainder of the suspension, Doane said that SHS Assistant Principal Patricia Horton-Albritton will serve as head administrator at the high school. The school system did not provide a reason for the suspension.
Doane, who also serves as the director of human resources for the school system, confirmed that the suspension began on Feb. 21, but refused to offer any further comment on the matter.
Coleman began as principal at SHS at the beginning of the 2017-18 school year after serving for seven years as principal at Mattamuskeet Early College High School.
