Catherine Glover and Robin McKeithan, of the Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce, spoke on March 21 in Greensboro at the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners summit. The theme of the summit was “100 Counties; Helping our Children Thrive.”
The mission of the event was to inspire and support county government efforts to grow and maintain an environment that fosters the social, economic and physical health of all children. Glover and McKeithan spoke about Bright Futures Beaufort County, a program founded by the Chamber Foundation. This program works to create partnerships and inspire educational achievement by meeting students’ basic needs and developing community support to enrich the lives of our children in the Beaufort County School system.
The idea behind highlighting programs like Bright Futures was to provide counties with ideas for programs that they could replicate or generate momentum for similar ideas/mechanisms to address issues in other counties.
