Graduate students from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill spent an action-packed week working with Tyrrell County Schools and the broader Tyrrell County community March 11-16.
Students started the week with a tour of Tyrrell County on Sunday, March 11.
The UNC students delivered a big supply of recreational equipment including basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, Frisbees, etc. for our students to check out to play with outside of school.
They assessed and made recommendations for access to our buildings and playgrounds for students with special needs; they mentored high school students on college life; they donated a new heavy duty outdoor basketball rim for the new youth basketball park; and they spent valuable time with students and community members making a contribution.
We appreciate this decade long relationship.
