Mrs. Betsy Patrick Sawyer, 75, of Washington, died Sunday, April 15, 2018, at home.

Betsy was born Dec. 6, 1942, and grew up in Aulander, daughter of the late Catherine Morris and Dennis Ward Patrick Sr. In 1962, she married Don Carrow Sawyer Sr. who precedes her in death along with her brother, Dennis “Dink” Ward Patrick Jr. Betsy was a cosmetologist in Washington for over 40 years. After retiring, she and her husband, Don, enjoyed boating and were members of the Washington Yacht & Country Club for many years. Survivors include her son, Don Carrow Sawyer Jr.; grandchildren, Sarah Sawyer Houston and husband Corey, of Greenville; Don Carrow Sawyer III, of Washington; great-granddaughter, Ava Catherine Houston; and sister, Morris Ann Johnson and husband Walter of New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Oakdale Cemetery with Pastor Ric Watford officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
