The NC Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service in the Office of the Governor is honored to announce Mr. Ed Benton as the Tyrrell County award recipient for 2017.
Mr. Ed Benton was recognized at the Tyrrell County Commissioners’ meeting on May 1. He has been an asset to the library over the past 10-12 years. He has volunteered his time assisting with children and youth programming, including movie nights, Building Buddies and being costumed characters.
He has helped with various library fundraisers, mounted memorial plaques on library chairs, prepared food for library events, set up and cleaned up after events, re-wired a library office and provided trouble-shooting for a water leak.
Mr. Benton has given his time and talents unselfishly during the past year at the public library, as well as in previous years.
We congratulate Ed as the 2017 NC Outstanding Volunteer winner for Tyrrell County!
