THREE TYRRELL OFFICIALS attended the 350th anniversary celebration of the Albemarle region in Elizabeth City on May 10. On exhibit was the Carolina Charter of 1663, given by King Charles II of England to the eight Lords Proprietors, including George Monck, Duke of Albemarle. Pictured with the Charter are (from left) Commissioner Tommy Everett, County Manager David Clegg, and Commissioners Chairman Leroy Spivey. In 1668 Albemarle County was divided into Currituck, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Chowan. Tyrrell County was formed from Currituck and Perquimans in 1729.
