The Tyrrell County Schools Black History Club on May 10 traveled to Washington, DC, and toured the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

The day started early with students boarding the activity bus at 4:30 a.m.Once they arrived in Washington, the students had the opportunity to watch traditional fraternity step performances, and were invited to participate in a performance. Several of the students were able to identify with their character from the Black History performance held in February by reading about their various histories and viewing videos.

“The students were excited to see the incredible exhibits, and all of them enjoyed the experience” said Dr. Will Hoffman, superintendent.
