Lamb Basnight of Manteo (right) on May 19 demonstrated dowsing to locate graves on the Silas Davenport farm near the mouth of Scuppernong River in Tyrrell County during the annual picnic hosted by the Tyrrell County Genealogical and Historical Society. Despite the skeptics, Basnight and others proclaimed the existence of dozens of unmarked graves, most likely those of Native Americans buried there in the late 1600s.
