Tyrrell sheriff reports on activities

Sheriff Darryl Liverman reported recently to the county commissioners that he and his deputies responded to 1,151 law enforcment calls or complaints in Tyrrell County during April.
There were 78 ambulance and five fire calls that month.
Officers charged 149 individuals with 195 crimes. Among them were: one aggravated assault, two larcenies, one simple assault, five frauds, 38 drug violations, one child abuse, four contempt of court, one escape, two trespassing, and 138 traffic violations.
Officers served 88 criminal and 23 civil papers for the courts.
Deputies drove 999 miles and logged 20.5 hours in transporting inmates to and from confinement facilities. The county paid $5,850 for housing eight males and two females for various lengths of time in the Dare County Detention Center during April.
Five deputies and staff members received a total of 48 hours of in-service training in April.
