Bicycles, tricycles, scooters and power wheels packed the parking lot of A New Adventure on Friday, marking the daycare’s first-ever Ride for a Cure, a fundraiser held for the purpose of raising money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. According to daycare owner Latisha Moore, the fundraiser brought in a total of $2,647 for the hospital, more than doubling the initial goal of $1,000.

For Moore, a cancer survivor herself, the event was personal. Having seen two young children fight leukemia, she felt a strong desire to do something that would help St. Jude. Kids at the center learned age-appropriate lessons on the needs of critically ill children and took to the idea of helping with great enthusiasm. Visits from the Washington Police Department and Kona Ice made the day all the more special for the excited youngsters.
