The public meeting, set for Monday, about developing a restoration plan for Lake Mattamuskeet has been postponed until Sept. 18.
The meeting, scheduled to be held at the Hyde County Government Center in Swan Quarter, was to have been the fifth of sixth meetings focusing on restoring the lake’s water quality. The agenda for Monday’s meeting will be covered at the Sept. 18 meeting, also to be held at the Hyde County Government Center. The Sept. 18 meeting was to have been the last of the six public meetings.
The postponement was announced by the North Carolina Coastal Federation, hired to develop the plan. Scheduling conflicts with other public meetings caused the postponement, according to NCCF.
At the Sept. 18 meeting, the planning team is scheduled to present and discuss the priority actions to be included in the plan. That meeting will include reviews of technical presentations and research updates that are being used to prioritize future actions for the lake. After the priority actions are presented, there will be an opportunity for public review and input on the draft plan. A final, daylong public open house will be held Dec. 3 to unveil the entire plan.
