Paul Wayne Pugh

Mr. Paul Wayne Pugh, age 66, of Lake Landing, N.C., passed away at this home in Summerville, South Carolina, on July 15, 2018.
Born in Beaufort County on Oct. 29, 1951, Paul was the son of the late Jack L. and Edith Sadler Pugh. He was married to Betsy Hodges Pugh who survives him. Paul and Betsy had recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary.
Paul was a long-time employee of the North Carolina Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 2012. Paul enjoyed most spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, and over the years, volunteered with the Boys Scouts of America and participated in the annual East Carolina University Pigskin Pigout.
Surviving are a son, Anthony P. Pugh and wife Jessica, of Summerville, South Carolina; a daughter and granddaughter, Bambi M. Pugh and Peyton Jane of Summerville; sisters, Barbara P. Williams, of Fairfield, Katie P. Cook, of Southport, Marjorie P. Brown and husband Johnny of Rose Hill, Janis P. Simmons and husband Tom, of Southport; sister-in-laws, Loretta H Wright and husband Steve, of Mount Olive, and Linda H. Barrington, of Manteo, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Warren Brooke, and a brother, Rupert G. Pugh.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or the Ronald McDonald House, Greenville, NC in memory of Paul.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. The family will receive friends at the church and later at the home place of Mack and Sandra Carawan, in Fairfield.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice Care of South Carolina for the care they provided.
