Fossil-ing at Aurora STEM camp

A LEARNING ADVENTURE: This week, camp participants are getting hands-on experience with geology and paleontology during Aurora Fossil Museum’s STEM camp. In addition to the “fossil pit,” where campers can dig for their own fossils, and the main museum, the Learning Center offers a view into the past through a collection of rocks, minerals and fossils from near and far. Here, children explore the main museum where they learned about the ancient sharks that called eastern North Carolina (then underwater) home. (Vail Stewart Rumley/Daily News)
