The 71st-annual North Carolina 4-H Electric Congress was held July 10-12 at University of North Carolina-Wilmington. Beaufort County delegates were Sherfield Smith and RJ Langley of Washington. The conference began with a career fair and service project, followed by the awards banquet and dance. On Wednesday morning, the delegates participated in hands-on workshops learning about electricity and renewable energy.
NC 4-H Electric Congress is an award trip fully sponsored by the NC Electric Companies: Duke Energy Carolinas, Dominion Energy and Duke Energy Progress. Through their generosity, the entire delegation boarded buses for a fun-filled afternoon at Jungle Rapids and later boarded a dinner cruise ship at Carolina Beach to enjoy the sunset, dinner and dancing on the Cape Fear River. On Friday, following breakfast, the delegates were bused back to their respective hometowns.
