Mother and son charged with growing, selling marijuana

CHOCOWINITY — On Aug. 1, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Cody Jones, 27 years of age, of lot A24 Twin Lakes Campground in Chocowinity and his mother, Tammy Jones, 57 years of age, of lot A24 Twin Lakes Campground in Chocowinity.

They were charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana within 1000 feet of a park/playground, manufacturing marijuana within 1000 feet of a park/playground and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Their arrest stemmed from investigators receiving complaints about marijuana being used and sold inside of Twin Lakes Campground. Investigators conducted surveillance and started making purchases of marijuana from Cody Jones.

Investigators conducted a search of Cody Jones’ and Tammy Jones’ camper, located at lot A24 in Twin Lakes Campground, and found approximately 60 grams of marijuana packaged for resale, digital scales and a small indoor grow that contained six marijuana plants.

Cody Jones was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $38,500 secured bond. Tammy Jones was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $36,000 secured bond.
