RALEIGH — AgCarolina Farm Credit is accepting applications for their Ag Biz programs through Aug. 31. AgCarolina offers two programs with a focus on assisting participants and their families with business planning, among other key financial and money matters related to an agricultural operation.
Ag Biz Basics is a short, four module online course offered to young, beginning, small and minority farmers.
Ag Biz Planner is a 10-module online course offered to young, beginning, small and minority farmers. As part of the Planner program, participants create a business plan for their operation.
“Working through the Ag Biz Planner program, as a farmer myself, was an integral part of forming a business plan for my farming operation,” said AgCarolina Farm Credit Loan Officer and Johnston County farmer Weston McCorkle. “As a young, beginning and small farmer, it was beneficial to not only work with professionals from the agriculture industry, but also to network with other farmers seeking to grow their operations as well.”
AgCarolina Farm Credit will accept participants for the programs, which will begin in September 2018 and run through January 2019. The application, a course outline and program information are available via our website. Applications will be accepted through Aug. 31. Individuals selected for the program will be notified. The courses will conclude with a group conference in Raleigh, Jan. 9-10, 2019.
“AgCarolina Farm Credit continues to support these Ag Biz programs because of the proven track record graduates have in using the material learned to help manager their operations,” said President and CEO Dave Corum. “Investing in young, beginning, small and minority farmers is the best way to ensure agriculture remains the number one industry in North Carolina.”
