Service restored after Century Link outage

At 3:39 p.m., the Beaufort County Hyper-Reach system issued the following alert:
“Century Link, has restored services, associated with previous 911 outages, in Beaufort County. Repeat, Century Link, has restored services, associated with previous 911 outages, in Beaufort County.”
Services were temporarily interrupted earlier on Thursday due to a system failure.

At 11:39 a.m., the Beaufort County Hyper-Reach system issued the following alert:

“Century Link, is experiencing a 911 outage, in areas of our county. If you experience a problem, and have an emergency, call 252-946-0101.”

According to Beaufort County Operations Chief of Fire and Emergency Management Chris Newkirk, Centurylink experienced a system failure this morning, but internal tests of the county’s 911 system show the system to be currently operational. Individuals attempting to contact county government offices may encounter difficulties until the problem is resolved.

Newkirk said that Century Link crews have been dispatched to address the issue. In the event that 911 is not functional, call 252-946-0101.
