Mary C. Goodwin, 26, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was arrested and charged on August 14 with three counts of felony possession of controlled substances, three counts of misdemeanor possession of controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia, Sheriff Darryl Liverman reported.

The arrests came after Tyrrell County sheriff’s  deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding on U.S. 64 in Columbia at 12:36 a.m.

Upon approaching the vehicle deputies smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and also observed an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and seized cocaine, methamphetamines, MDMA, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Goodwin was placed in the Dare County Detention Center on a $100,000 secured bond and was scheduled for a first appearance in Tyrrell County District Court on August 15.

Goodwin posted bond, however, and the court date was moved to September 12, a deputy court clerk stated August 16.
