SUNDAY FUNDAY: Washington’s First Baptist Church hosted a block party/summer picnic from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday in the open area east of the church between North Bonner and North Academy streets. One of the activities, children on pushcarts scooping up plastic balls with buckets, brought smiles and screams of laughter. Another activity at the church’s outreach project was the inflatable slide. The event offered hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones. A prayer booth was part of the event that targeted residents in the neighborhood around the church.
