With Hurricane Florence gathering strength in the Atlantic and projections predicting the storm to strike the Carolinas either late Thursday night or Friday, local-area schools are making changes to their sports’ schedules in anticipation of the hurricane’s arrival.

As of this afternooon, all athletic events for Washintgon, Southside and Northside scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday have been cancelled or postponed. The Southside football game against North Duplin will be played Friday, Sept. 21 at North Duplin High School. Other make-up dates will be scheduled later.
