UTILITIES UPDATE: Large power outages reported in vicinity of Aurora, Blounts Creek, Pantego

As of 6:50 p.m. Thursday, approximately 2,300 people on the Tideland EMC power grid were without power in Beaufort County.

On the south side of the river, Tideland EMC is showing an outage affecting 997 customers in the vicinity of Aurora. Approximately 200 lost power in the vicinity of Blounts Creek, and a third significant outage impacted 332 customers on and around Old Blounts Creek Road.

On the north side of the Pamlico, an outage affecting Pantego and the surrounding area left 798 customers without power on Thursday evening. According to the tideland outage reports, that outage was resolved shortly after 7 p.m.

Straddling the border between Beaufort and Pamlico Counties, Duke Energy Progress is showing a large outage area affecting approximately 2,050 customers. Specific communities in Beaufort County impacted are Aurora, Edward, Stilley, Royal, Bonnerton and Small.
