Tyrrell native named senior vice president of bank

Union Bank has announced the promotion of Wesley Barnes to senior vice president and market executive in the Greenville market.

Barnes, 38, the son of Gordon and Teresa Davis Barnes, grew up in Tyrrell County and graduated from Columbia High School.

He joined Union Bank in 2013 as a senior commercial relationship manager within the Greenville branch.

Prior to joining Union Bank Barnes served as a commercial relationship manager and branch manager with The East Carolina Bank where he was the first graduate of their management trainee program.

He holds a degree from East Carolina University and has graduated from the ECU/RMA Commercial Banking School (2008) and the NC School of Banking at Chapel Hill.

With 14 years banking experience, Barnes is engrained in the Greenville-Pitt County community, having served on the Pitt County Chamber of Commerce board of directors as well as its Young Professional vice president.

Barnes is active with the Kiwanis in Greenville and coaches youth soccer for the Parks and Recreational departments in both Greenville and Winterville.
