CHOCOWINITY — October brings cooler temperatures and a full schedule of fun activities for Beaufort County residents, including a very special one held last weekend in Chocowinity.
Folks with developmental disabilities of all ages, their families and caregivers were treated to a day down on the farm, a local tradition held annually at the home of Stan and Linda Hudson. The custom is hosted by the Eastern Antique Power Association and the Arc of Beaufort County, with financial support from two dozen area businesses, organizations and individuals.
School-age children were joined by senior citizens for tractor rides, barrel train excursions, hayrides, games, music and trips in a 1922 Ford Model T. An old-fashioned water pump station gave those in attendance a chance to experience life in the good old days. Prizes
were awarded and a 50-50 drawing was held.
To cap off the day, those in attendance were treated to funnel cakes, pizza, hot dogs and homemade ice cream.
