Ellen Ann Albin Gallagher

Mrs. Ellen Ann Albin Gallagher, age 75, a resident of Chocowinity, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018.
She was born March 5, 1943, to the late Bernard and Nan Cavanaugh Albin in the Bronx, New York. Ellen graduated from St. Simon Stock High School, Bronx, and attended Drake Secretarial School in the Bronx and Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey. Ellen was a Keypunch Operator for Royal Globe Insurance Company, a Computer Tape Librarian for General Motors Acceptance Corporation in New York City, from 1960 to 1970, a florist at Washington Florist, Washington Township, N.J. from 1985 to 1988 and The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) from 1988 to 1999. Ellen also worked as an Administrative Assistant in Construction & Design and Procurement Departments.
She was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law: Albert, Ronald, Allen Raymond and his wife, Katherine (nee McGovern), and their daughter, Diane (nee Gallagher) Groesbeck. Cousin Susan Thompson (nee Cavanaugh) and her husband, Wayne, of Hampton Bays, New York. Cousins Theodore (Teddy) Schenkewitz, his wife, Judy, and their son Kenneth.
She is survived by her husband, Edward, with whom she shared 52 years of wedded bliss; her sons, James and wife Susan (nee Pappas), of Mountainside, N.J., Kevin Gallagher, of Chocowinity; daughter Nan and her husband, Adam Auferio, of Succasunna, N.J.; her grandchildren, Michael and Shannen Gallagher, of Mountainside, N.J., and Fiona and Blaze Auferio, of Succasunna, N.J.; one brother, Fr. John Gallagher OFM Cap of Middletown, Connecticut; two sisters-in-law, Nan Gallagher (Nee Ferns), of Hawley, Pennsylvania, and Elizabeth Gallagher (nee McGuigan), of Melbourne Beach, Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Service.
