This pair of Royal Terns were photographed on Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge some weeks ago. Feeding on shrimp & fish, the Royal Tern dives into the water to grab its meals. According to Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the oldest recorded Royal Tern was observed in Belize. It had been originally banded in North Carolina over 30 years prior!
