From Zion Shelter and Kitchen
The winds came. The rains came. The water rose, and all the hard work that the staff of the Zion Men’s Homeless Shelter and Kitchen had done over the past 30 years was wiped out in a single night.
The sleeping area for the men was decimated. The kitchen in which almost 400 meals a month are prepared was completely devastated. All appliances, electrical equipment, cooking, bedding and hygiene materials were lost.
Fortunately, for Zion and the community, so many people have stepped up to assist, help, pray, and support as we try to rebuild and move forward with our mission. Just last week, we received a wonderful donation from the Koinonia Christian Center Church in Greenville.
Presented by Reggie Sauls, the gift of hygiene bags containing basic elements necessary for daily living for each individual will be an essential part of returning people back to a level of living with dignity.
Truly all of these things are part of our mission to house, feed and clothe the homeless and less fortunate as we try to live the words of St. Matthew, “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
