Arts are alive in downtown Washington all weekend long!

A wide variety of live music is on the calendar and ready for you at the historic Turnage Theatre this weekend. On Thursdays, the Beaufort County Traditional Music Association hosts a variety show chock-full of great acts. The show features talented guitarists and vocalists Justin Casey, Ron Parrish, and Duane Harris. The free show is from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Donations appreciated.

On Friday night, Donna Elks reads and signs her new book, “Possum Track Chronicles,” starting at 6 p.m. Then the Steve Creech Quartet featuring vocalist Rasheeda Waddell, Jim Gilliam on piano and saxophone, Stephan Pryor on bass and Steve Creech play from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. This free show is in the Gallery; donations and band tips appreciated.

On Saturday, three live events are on tap. BCTMA jams from 10 a.m.  to noon in the Gallery. Rockin’ for the Vets on stage get underway at 6 p.m. Improv Comedy by I.C. Comedy takes the Gallery floor at 7 p.m. Tickets for both evening events are sold at the door.

On Sunday, don’t miss the Beaufort County Community Orchestra’s Veterans Concert starting at 3 p.m. This is a free concert that’s partially supported by the North Carolina Arts Council. Donations are appreciated.

Wait — read on and mark your calendar for AOP’s next stage production, “A Little Night Music,” presented by East Carolina University’s School of Theatre and Dance on Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online, or by calling or stopping by the theater.
