Published 9:37 am Monday, November 19, 2018

Note: the animal shelter will be closed from Thursday until Sunday for the Thanksgiving holiday. It will reopen again on Monday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m.

Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs and ENC Shelter Cats on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. The Humane Society of Beaufort County can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BeaufortCountyNCHumaneSociety.

Requests for more information with regard to the animals appearing in Pets of the Week may be directed to shelter staff in person at the shelter during business hours or by emailing animal.control@co.beaufort.nc.us — always use the animal’s ID number.

Please note, the shelter is closed on the first Wednesday of each month for cleaning and maintenance.

Lady Bird

This large, approximately 1-year-old pointer-mix is a friendly and absolutely gorgeous girl with striking markings and features including her warm brown face, ears and legs and a coat of white and brown tick. Lady Bird is an application only dog. Those interested in her should go into the shelter, in person, and fill out an application. Once all applications have been reviewed, the shelter will call the applicant that the shelter believes is best suited for this dog, as well as having experience with this breed. Lady Bird’s ID is No. 1827.

Scarlet

This beautiful American shorthair tabby girl is all decked out in a spectacular coat of buff, gray and ebony stripes. White highlights on her pretty face, huge pale green eyes and a rosebud nose complete a lovely picture. Scarlet, a 2-year-old, is a friendly cuddle-bug, and she loves to be held and loved. She will be a welcome addition in a variety of good forever, loving, home settings. Once there, she will blossom into a wonderful pet and companion. Visit Scarlet, ID No. 1813, and see for yourself what wonderful cat she is. She’s available at the shelter.
