Low-income households may qualify for energy assistance

Hyde County DSS will begin taking Low-Income Energy Assistance Program applications Dec. 1 through Dec. 31 or until funds are exhausted. Any household containing an elderly person age 60 and above or a disabled person receiving services through the Division of Aging and Adult Services is eligible to potentially receive benefits. Disabled persons are defined as receiving Social Security income, SSA or Veterans Administration disability. All other applicants can apply from Jan. 1, 2019, through March 31 or until funds are exhausted. Any household can potentially receive benefits if all eligibility requirements are met and if funds remain available after Dec. 31.
