Big smiles were in ample supply on Tuesday at the Purpose of God Annex on East Sixth Street on Tuesday. Thanks to a donation by Walmart, 27 new bicycles were given to adults and children through the Christian nonprofit as a special Christmas gift. In addition to neighborhood children, bikes were also provided for some members of the POGA Project New Hope Program, which will assist with transportation needs to and from places of employment. Washington Police and Fire Services offered the recommendation for POGA to be selected as this year’s benefitting nonprofit. For some children, such as Victor Gomez, these were the first bikes they have ever owned.
