KINSTON — On Dec. 4, Parrott Academy’s Tri-M Music Honor Society sponsored a music relay. Throughout the school day, the lobby of the Hobgood Building was filled with performances by choral groups, violinists, the guitar ensemble, pianists, and various orchestra groups. The young musicians performed from 8:15 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. for an ever-changing audience. Parents and school visitors, elementary classes on their way to the cafeteria, and high school students during class changes all stopped to listen and applaud.
On Friday Dec. 7, the annual Holiday Concert entertained over 700 students and visitors. The student guitar ensemble directed by Debbie Fallin, the elementary and high school choirs directed by Lisa Duke, and the string orchestra directed by Eulalia VanFosson played holiday favorites, including a sing-along. The concert ended with Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus.
After the concert, student volunteers bagged up 730 toys donated during a week-long toy drive benefitting the Salvation Army of Kinston’s Christmas Cheer Giveaway.
