Three fire departments responded to a house fire on N.C. Highway 92 Friday afternoon, quickly extinguishing a fire that is believed to have started in the home’s laundry room. According to Beaufort County Emergency Services Fire and Operations Chief Chris Newkirk, the homeowners, a husband and wife, were home when the fire ignited. Bunyan, Pinetown and Bath volunteer fire departments responded to the scene, with Bunyan being the first to arrive. Newkirk said the department had members at the station when the call came out, and that the fire only lasted a matter of minutes. Beaufort County EMS and Beaufort County Emergency Services also responded to the call. The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated.
