John Henry Beasley, 74, of 565 Mountain Canal Road, Creswell, died on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Dare County, N. C. on June 26, 1944, he was the son of the late Morris and Elizabeth Johnson Beasley. He was married to the former Eleanor May Barnett who survives.
Mr. Beasley served in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged as Sergeant after two tours in Vietnam. Following his years with our armed forces, he worked in the maintenance department with the U. S. Park Service and also enjoyed commercial fishing. He attended the Assembly of Praise.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Assembly of Praise. Rev. Randy Hughes, Interim Pastor will officiate. Military honors will be offered by the U. S. Marine Corps and the JROTC from Washington County High School.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Eleanor are a son, Morris Beasley of Elizabeth City; four daughters, Cynthia (Cindy) Grosskopf and husband, Randy of Creedmoor, Linda B. Austin and husband, Kent of Columbia, Mary Beasley Nichols and husband, C. R. of Creswell and Jennifer Beasley of Creswell; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; three very special nephews, Chris Barnett, John Barnett and Ray Barnett.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Ivy Johnson and Lloyd Beasley and a sister, Callie Gallop.

The family will visit with friends in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the funeral service.
