Isaac Boerema received the Dr. Jim Dunphy Soybean Industry Award for Meritorious Service from the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association at the association’s 52nd annual meeting in Durham, N.C. on Jan. 9. The award recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to North Carolina soybean farmers.
Boerema, a farmer from Hyde Co., received the Dr. Jim Dunphy Soybean Industry Award for meritorious service in recognition of his volunteer service to the soybean industry and for his leadership of the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association’s research committee. Boerema identified projects that provide the best return for soybean farmers in the state and innovated the association’s approach to selecting projects in which to invest.
Boerema farms 2,600 acres of soybeans, as well as wheat and corn, with his father and uncle in Pantego, N.C. He served on the board of directors of the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association from 2013 through 2019 and on the board of directors of the Farm Bureau of Hyde County since 2007 and is a member of the North Carolina Farm Bureau Natural Environment Resource Committee.
