The signup period for youth baseball and softball will end March 4, James Stehlin, director of the Tyrrell County Parks and Recreation Commission, has announced.

The program is open to boys and girls ages 4-15. Practice will commence in mid-March for the April-June game season.

Registration fee is $25 per child or $20 per child for families signing up two or more children.

Signup and fee payment can be accomplished by contacting Sherri Smith in the Tyrrell County School Board office at 1107 Hwy 64 East in Columbia between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Applicants handing the signup form and payment to a teacher should put them in a marked envelope.

“There will be a skills evaluation for each age level to properly place kids on teams,” Stehlin said.
