Brenda Lee Allen Hamilton

Mrs. Brenda Lee Allen Hamilton, age 77, a resident of Pantego, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at Pungo Christian Academy and will be officiated by Ethan Coltrain and Scott Askew. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery.

Mrs. Hamilton was born in Beaufort County on Sept. 22, 1941, to the late Warren Kermit Allen, Sr. and Olive Rose Allen. She graduated from Pantego High School and went on to attend and graduate from East Carolina University with a BS in Education. On Nov. 14, 1965, she married William Ray Hamilton. Mrs. Hamilton was a dedicated, well-respected and loved teacher at Pungo Christian Academy, who was in her 51st year in the profession she loved. Her family, church, community and school were foremost in her life. She was a member of Union Grove Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband Ray Hamilton, of the home; two children, Rita H. Graves, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, Rebecca H. Cahoon and husband Brad, of Belhaven; a stepdaughter, Holly Brown, of Chadbourn, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Amanda Carroll and husband Matt, Laurie Graves, Morgan Graves, David Graves, Cole Cahoon, Colin Cahoon, Caelan McHarney, Callie McHarney, Conlyn McHarney; a great-grandchild, Abigail Carroll; three sisters, Phrocene Allen, of Pantego, Kaye Miller, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mary Allen, of Raleigh; and a nephew she considered her son, Charlie McHarney and wife Melissa, of Pinehurst.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Warren Kermit Allen, Jr., and her sister, Norma Jean Bowen.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at Pungo Christian Academy.
