Getting the kids involved in the arts

Arts of the Pamlico is filling its schedule with lots of activities to engage children’s bodies, hands and minds in many forms of art.
On March 2, AOP welcomes Bath Elementary School as they present “Willy Wonka” for two wonderful shows. There will be a matinee at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. On March 23, at 2 p.m., ECU Storybook Theatre will present “Bridge to Terabithia” at the historic Turnage Theatre. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the theatre.
AOP is pleased to host the 2019 Student Art Show for Beaufort County Schools in all three of our galleries. The opening reception will be March 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the historic Turnage Theatre. The art will be on display to the public from March 7 through April 6 during business hours for the theatre and special events. Patrons are encouraged to come to see the abundance of talent Beaufort County Schools has blossoming within it.
If your child wants to be part of a fun, energetic, up and coming group at AOP, Bubblegum Theatre will hold auditions for their spring production, “Pirates of the Pamlico Jr.” on March 26 and 27 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Audition material will be provided at the audition all the kids need to do is show up!
Before we know it, Spring will be here. At Havens Gardens playground, join u for Pop Up Art on Saturdays in April and May from 12:30 to 2 p.m. — no charge thanks to support from Duke Energy Foundation.
Spring Break will be here soon and AOP has its 3rd annual Art Break Camp planned April 22 to April 26 from 9a.m. to 1 p.m., with Rachel and Crystal. Sign up now by calling AOP at 252-946-2504. The cost for this weeklong art camp is $50 for AOP Members and $65 for non-members.
AOP is a non-profit organization and the state-designated regional arts council for Beaufort and Washington counties, serving eastern North Carolina and beyond.
