Go do something fun

It seems as though the cold is finally behind us. In it’s place, there is pollen, but also sunshine and pretty days, and it’s the right time to go and do something outside, and we don’t mean mowing the lawn.

Here are some ideas for outdoor activities you and yours should try out this spring:

  • Feel the breeze at the Washington waterfront.
  • Go hiking at Goose Creek State Park.
  • Rent a kayak, canoe or paddleboard.
  • Dig for fossils in Aurora.
  • Pack a picnic on Bonner Point in Bath.
  • Explore history in local cemeteries.
  • Take a stroll through downtown Belhaven.
  • Take a bicycle down a back road.
  • Get out and pick up trash from the roadways.
  • Enjoy a baseball game at the Chocowinity ball fields.
  • Try out a new sport or activity you’ve never done before.
  • Take a glance at the new life springing up all around.
  • Get down and dirty in the garden.
  • Take a walk in the woods.
  • Have dinner on the patio.
  • Hang up a hammock.
  • Go metal detecting.
  • Go bird watching.
  • Look for wildlife.
  • Enjoy life.

Whatever you do, do something different. Break up the monotony of the day in and day out with something fun, exciting and new. Think of all the days spend cooped up in the house during cold and rainy weather, and try to make up for them. Go play outside. You won’t regret it.
