According to Dr. Russell Wilford, “It is hard to pick out just one patient whom Respiratory Care Practitioner Bonnie Landeck has gone above and beyond for.”

Landeck has been named as a recipient of the PHIL (Pulmonary Health and Illness of the Lung) Award. The PHIL Award was established by the FACES Foundation to recognize outstanding respiratory therapists who provide care and treatment for patients with respiratory illness.

Landeck was presented the award by Alene Payne, manager of Respiratory Care at Vidant Beaufort Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. Vidant Health recognizes two PHIL Award winners each year — one from Vidant Medical Center and one representing the Vidant regional hospitals. Landeck was named as the regional recipient.

Landeck was nominated by Dr. Russell Wilford, a hospitalist at Vidant Beaufort Hospital. Dr. Wilford is not the only hospitalist at Vidant Beaufort Hospital to recognize her dedication to her patients and her profession. She maintains outstanding relationships with hospital providers and fellow team members and is often called on to help problem-solve issues with patients.

Landeck was described by Payne as the type of respiratory care practitioner she would want to take care of her or any of her family members.

“Bonnie’s patients love her because it is obvious that she loves taking care of them,” Payne said.

She regularly goes the extra mile when providing patient care, especially in the areas of patient comfort and education. Landeck is a team player and is always willing to lend a helping hand when she can and is well-respected throughout the hospital by all disciplines.

Landeck was extremely surprised and honored to be named as a PHIL Award recipient. She loves her profession, enjoys what she does every day and loves her patients and fellow team members.
