William Bryan Shipman, Jr.

Mr. William “Bryan” Shipman, Jr., age 76, a resident of Washington, died Saturday, June 15, 2019, at his home.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of Jimmy and Jennifer Harris, at 103 Knight St., Washington. A private entombment will be held later.
Mr. Shipman was born in Savannah, Georgia, on March 21, 1943, son of the late William “Billy” Shipman, Sr. and the late Wenohah Caris Robinson Shipman. He was a 1961 graduate of Miller-Lanier High School in Macon, Georgia. Following high school, he completed his undergraduate degree in accounting and earned his MBA, both at the University of Georgia. On Sept. 4, 1965, he married the former Evelyn Patricia “Pat” Weaver, who preceded him in death on Sept. 14, 2007. Mr. Shipman retired from the University of Georgia as a Computer Services Specialist and educator. He was an avid reader, who enjoyed playing bridge and coin collecting.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jimmy Harris, of Washington; a son, Lee Shipman, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Richard Swanson, of Illinois; and five grandchildren, Wheaton, Jack and Hollice Shipman, Ragan and Ashley Harris. Mr. Shipman was also preceded in death by his grandson, William “Creighton” Shipman, and sister Wenonah “Winky” Cosmas.
