The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 6-week-old infant girl that occurred over the weekend. The death was reported to the BCSO at around 10:30 p.m. on Friday by Vidant Hospital Police, and there is an ongoing investigation into the death.

“There is no further comment at this time,” read a release from the BCSO.

According to representatives from the Vidant Health Communications Department, the hospital system is unable to release information on the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death at this time.
