It’s a “tale as old as time,” and preparations are well under way for the classic tale of “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” to unfold on the Turnage Theatre stage. The musical comes to the theatre as the latest installment of Arts of the Pamlico’s Broadway Kids Camp, an annual summer opportunity designed to get local kids involved in theatre.

Directed by Arts of the Pamlico’s Youth Arts Programing Director Rachel Issacs, the musical features choreography by Sarah Petty and illustrated backgrounds created by ECU intern Carleigh Flynn.

For some participants, the cost of participating is offset through a scholarship from AOP’S “On Robin’s Wings Youth Arts Fund,” which was established in May 2018 in honor of Robin Morgan Roberson Potts.

Tech week for the camp is set for July 8, and two performances are scheduled for July 13 at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets for the show will be $5 cash or $7 with a credit card. For more information about happenings at Arts of the Pamlico, visit www.artsofthepamlico.org.
